Pictures from Japan

A Japanese garden in Tokyo (beside the Sumo stadium) that dates from the 1600s.

A small shinto shrine in the same garden.

A university kyudo (archery) team, at Ayase trainstation wearing hakama
and juban and eating big macs.

Part of Asakusa temple in Tokyo.

Sencha (green tea) and jellied bracken sweets in a tea house in Gion, Kyoto.

The same tea house - which has been in operation for hundreds of years.

More sencha, this time in a tea house near Kiyomizudera in Kyoto

The shinkansen (bullet train) as it pulls into Kyoto station

Ha ha.

A traditional Japanese breakfast, including tea, rice, seaweed, miso soup,
sweetened omelette, pickles, natto, mountain vegetables
and grilled fish.

Eating okonomyaki in Tokyo - a sort of DIY pancake/savoury omelette thing. Delicious!

I'm not scared of spiders, but this looks like it's from another planet!
